14 Newly certified Aboriginal Community Warriors™!

The month of May proved very successful for Native Way Training Services Inc. (NWTS). Having given two Aboriginal Community Warrior™ Courses in Ottawa ON in March and St. Mary’s First Nation NB in April, there are now 14 of these participants who have successfully passed their Personal Training certification exams.

“I am so proud of our participants as this course covers a lot of content and they rose to the occasion by studying hard and demonstrating superior Personal Training skills in their practical components. They retained all of the key components they were taught and surpassed my expectations. ” Says Isabelle Aubé, President and Founder of NWTS. “It also shows me that all of my work adapting this course to Aboriginal People and incorporating various teaching approaches has paid off. These Eastern Aboriginal Community Warriors are motivated and able to start changing the negative stats we hear about all of the time. I look forward to supporting them through their journeys.”

The Aboriginal Community Warrior™ course is a 6-day training that includes an internationally recognized personal training certification, Aboriginal Sport Development overview and valuable Community Mobilization training. Participants not only learn information, they get trained on how to implement it in their communities. Approximately one month later they undergo a 3hour theoretical exam and also have to do a 1hour practical exam.

“Becoming a personal trainer has always been a dream of mine. Even though I have taken many other courses over the years, I always felt that there was something missing. Now because of this course my life has come full circle” ~~Joanna Martin, Gesgapegiag QC.

What makes this course different, aside from the culturally relevant content, is the fact that participants get ongoing support even after they passed their exams. NWTS is committed to helping communities in every way that they can. This course is only the first step in helping to create health and improve social challenges that Aboriginal people are facing across Turtle Island.

“Our goal is to provide employment and self-employment opportunities, all the while producing highly skilled Aboriginal Fitness Professionals.” ~~ Isabelle Aubé

“I love the new direction of my life and for that I want to thank you so much for providing the opportunity and pushing me and believing in me…your support has made this possible! I plan to establish a recreation committee and we have already fundraised almost $1000 for our youth!” ~~ Cathy Ward, Metepenagiag NB

“Thank you very Much Isabelle for the Aboriginal Community Warrior training! It was a very informative and practical course and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get into the health or fitness field! Good job! Thank you.” Luke Morrison, Listuguj QC
